The Three Seasons in Farming
4:33 PM
I
believe that the farmers have the most difficult job of all. As they plant
seeds and cultivate them, they constantly feel body pains, and they battle off
climate change, pest attacks and soil corrosions that can hinder to the healthy
growth of their crops. They may harvest them in the right time, but it’s more
possible that they may not.
The
talk today at The Feast revolved around farming. We can be like farmers –
having the same goal of planting something and being able to harvest them all
someday. But each farmer can differ from one another in terms of the amount of
crops they can harvest:
- A farmer who
has planted seeds to a fertile soil, but didn’t had any crops during
harvest time is the one who just have ideas but did no action for
them;
- A farmer who
has planted seeds to a fertile soil, but only managed to harvest small
amount of crops is someone who has a goal and a plan, but lacks
proper execution of his strategies to achieve his objective;
- A farmer who
has planted seeds to a fertile soil, and had so many healthy
harvests in the end is the one who has a brilliant idea in mind,
which he put into life by acting upon it, while learning and
evolving during the process, until the harvest time comes.
The
third farmer knows about the three seasons in farming – planting, growing and
harvesting. The season of planting is when we plan for our
goals, study our moves and strategize our approaches to winning, while the
season of harvesting is the time when we reap all the fruits
of our hardwork.
But the
most important is the season of growing. In between planting and
harvesting, this is the phase where we regularly water the plants, anticipate
problems such as climate change and pest infestations, immediately doing our
counter-measures, and doing all our best to save as many crops as possible.
In
life, we plan and we expect our goals to be achieved someday. But we must bring
our brilliant ideas into life, execute our plans, endure the challenges and
make our actions fruitful so we can be successful in the end. Life might be
hard on you every day, but if you know how to plant seeds and grow them well,
you will surely harvest many crops someday.
