Get up!

10:25 AM

At this point in writing, I feel ashamed. I was the one who started this blogging thing about giving our praise to the Lord for all He has done for us and yet, I can't keep up with the daily posts. Not only that. I felt bad recently because I often let myself to succumb to sin and temptation. And these are not just light ones but deadly ones - sloth, lust, pride and anger. I can't bring myself to face others, the people I serve, my family and God because I feel like I'm a hypocrite; having learned all these things yet choose the dark side.

But our Father is loving and forgiving. I remember the talk entitled Dangerous Love in The Feast for All Saints Day. Brother Bo talked about the key on how we repent and ask forgiveness. He presented two styles - the "what we think we should do" style and God's style. The first style consists of five (5) steps - pray, pray and pray, pray pray and pray, pray pray pray and pray harder and repeat steps 1-4 with the hope that God may forgive you. But our God's style just consists of two (2) steps: first, remember that God loves you so much, and then repent.

Right now, I am blinded by the "what we think we should do" style. I am ashamed. I am afraid. I feel bad because I failed God. But God is a loving God. What He wants is for us to always remember that He loves us and He will forgive us. His Word has given me hope by letting Him remind me of this truth. It is not okay to sin, we all know that. But we encounter temptations to show how much we are willing to follow God's will for our lives.

It is not guaranteed that we will be holy the next day. It is a hard work in progress. But each day, there's something happening inside us; we change. We are given experiences we can learn from, new perspectives and awareness about the great plans God has in store for us.

Now, come on, get up. I too will get up and start walking because I have a Father who loves me entirely, whether I've been good or bad, and cheers me on to be a better person.

Father, thank you for the love You have shown me. Thank you for loving me and telling me that I can change. I love You Father. Please continue to guide me and be the best version of myself today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

  1. This is very enlightening! Our enemies (temptations, lust, pride and anger as such) can always bring us down, but we should never ever let their feet to step on us. Get up and continue using the power of praying. Consistently follow God, ask forgiveness and repent.

  2. It's really hard to repent. Not doing the sins again that we asked for forgiveness. But it is the challenge we have to go through until we are here on earth. And as we walk in this journey of big challenges, God is at work to help us and accompany us along the way. So let us not give up and continue to get up! This is so inspirational! Thanks Pre
