Small things count

"The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones; and the person who is dishonest in very small matters is also dishonest in great ones." Luke 16:10
"Delayed obedience is disobedience..." is one of the bible verses from the book of James that keeps ringing in my head whenever I get lazy to do a task I'm supposed to do. I am a lazy person. I can't clean my unit when I need to, eat when it's time or do a task when I don't feel like it. Basically, I'd rather spend the entire day in my bed, browsing Facebook or chatting with people on my phone rather than actually get things done. When I realize that I really, really need to do it, then I do it. Better late than never right? Wrong. Delayed obedience is disobedience.
What does it mean? I mean, I did it, why doesn't it count? Why am I still disobedient? I came to a realization when I was doing my requirements in my masteral class. It was the night before the deadline when I started doing it. Just imagine the sleepless night I had and the number of cups of coffee I had just to get everything done. I can't say that it's something I should be proud of (just because I did it and I am cool because I did). Here's why: I failed to experience the maximum benefit of that certain thing I should've done at that certain time. I can imagine the longer and more relaxing time I should have spent in bed if I managed to do all my requirements in time and surrounded by clean surroundings.
In today's reading, Jesus says that a person who cannot be trusted with small matters is 100% not worth trusting for greater ones. If you can't even clean your room, how can you be given an entire house to maintain? If you can't be trusted to return a small amount of money, how can you be trusted with a much larger amount? If you can't be trusted that you can manage your small team, how can anyone trust you with an entire department?
Let us all strive to be trustworthy of any task, no matter how small. Because it is where God sees how obedient we are in fulfilling his will and how we prove ourselves trustworthy of his gifts and blessings. If we manage to do it, God will never fail to give us the maximum benefit in doing so.
Lord, thank you for this day. It was a very productive day for me. I managed to enroll, help in our business and spend the day with my loved ones. Thank you for the strength you've given me to accomplish my tasks. I hope I managed to please You today.
