Surprise, surprise
9:18 PM
“The coming of the Kingdom of God cannot be observed, and no one will announce, ‘Look, here it is,’ or, ‘There it is.’ For behold, the Kingdom of God is among you.” Luke 17:20-21
Do you like surprises? I don't. I am not fond of it for the sole reason that I get anxious when something unexpected happens. It'll be hard for me to recover, especially if it's something important. I'd rather have you tell me what you're up to versus knowing it when I'm off guard.
But sometimes, surprises get to catch authenticity. Just yesterday, we participated in an audit to check our professional excellence. The past few days we engaged in discussions on how we can prepare for the audit and all. Luckily, we were commended for what we presented; though personally, I thought it would've been better if it was a surprise audit. Why? So that the reality and the authenticity is captured. No preparations, it is one's integrity who tells if we are fit for excellence.
Just like in our gospel today, no one will tell us when God will come again. As far as we know, when He comes, He will save those who believe and follows Him. Everyone wants to be saved. No one wants to get thrown away, that is for sure. But the question is - what are we doing in our daily lives so we can be saved? Are we listening to God's message? Do we live it by heart?
It is only us who defines how the kingdom of God will come in our lives. It is in the choices we make whether we want to be saved, and prove ourselves worthy to be saved, or not. Friends, no one will tell us when. Surprise.
Lord, thank you for keeping us safe in our journey. I am happy to get to spend the weekend with my loved ones. Continue to guide me and my family, grant us your wisdom and strength to get us through the day. Thank you Lord.
