Success vs Victory: How to be Victorious?

8:20 PM

Something to think about...

What is Success?

  • Achieving or finishing your goal

What is Victory?

  • Being a winner

Say there is a race and many have participated. Everyone finished the race and everyone is considered to be successful. But only one of them is victorious. That is the winner.

Remember that we are already victorious when Jesus laid His life on the cross and has risen from the dead. All our sins are forgiven and we are free. And even before the new testament, God assures us that we are victorious in him.

1 Corinthians 15:57
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 20:6
Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand.

Deuteronomy 20:4
For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory

But people including me tend to forget it because our mind and heart are of this world. We forget what Jesus has done for us and we are kept enslaved by the past and current situations in our lives. We fear what is ahead of us and we focus our minds on the "What if's".

There are three things to achieve victory at this point in time (to remind us):
  1. Let go of the past; follow God's commandment; and move on
  2. Lay hold of the promise; fight; and have courage
  3. Live in the presence of God; fulfill his plan

You can read Joshua 1 for further reflection.

Yay! Be inspired by the Lord for we are already victorious with Him in all aspects of our lives! :)
