Devo 6 Week 4: November 26, 2016 - Faith Can Defeat The Enemy
11:24 PM“You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” (1 Samuel 17:45)
Nothing nor no one can defeat the one who lives by faith in God.
The verse tells us how strong David's faith is. Although he is just little with only a sling shot as his weapon and he was faced by a giant with sword, spear and javelin, he did not fear. He was full of confidence that he can defeat the giant. And the confidence that he has comes from the Lord. It is his faith in believing the power of God.
A lot of things are happening to us each day. Situations that we linger from varies These situations can be financial, emotional, relationships, career, etc. Maybe these situations can occur all at the same time or maybe it can be as small as losing a jewelry that meant something to you or as big as losing your parent or loved one. It can really strike you hard and feel lost and with no hope.
But God reminds us that we should not be defeated by these situations for He would not give us something we could not handle. These are parts of his tests on our faith.
Like David we are challenged with different giants in our lives (like what Mat has said in his previous devotion) but by our faith in the Lord, we can defeat them all no matter what weapon they use to hurt us because we have the armor and weapon that God gave us.
I pray to you Lord God, to praise you and thank you. For whatever giant I, my family and my friends would face, we can defeat them with the weapon and armor You have provided, with the faith we have in You. In Jesus' name, I declare that my faith in You will grow stronger so I can defeat all goliaths that may come to my life. Amen.
