A Thousand Deaths

8:41 AM

"Jesus told her, 'I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.'" John 11:25-26

Death happens when we close our eyes and never get to open it again. It marks our last breath, our last day on Earth and nobody knows when that will be. Scary right? This is also the reason why most of us are scared of dying.

For me, I believe that one can die even when their eyes are wide open, their bodies moving, their hearts beating. One can die while living. How? Through heartaches, disappointment, anxiety, regret and guilt when we sin. When we feel these things, we feel like we have lost our will to live; we find no reason to continue on.

But what is our reason for living? Why are we here on Earth? It is because God wants us to. God wants us to experience the gift of life and fulfill our dreams. Even if we die a thousand deaths throughout the course of our existence, He is always beside us and telling us "Hey, there is much more to life than this. I've made you for something greater."

Right now, you might be stuck at that point wherein you're still thinking why you're still here. I am the same. But God is here. He is with us. He will always give us the strength to continue living. We may die everyday with the challenges we face like it's sucking our energy out, but if we have God in our hearts, we are fully equipped with everything we need to take that step forward and live our lives.

Lord, thank you for another day to live and fulfill my dreams. I love you.

  1. Definitely agree on this. Good thing we are given the chance to have a new life after we died a couple of times before. I sometimes feel worried that what if someday I'll never get the chance to have a new life again but instead of worrying I find myself thinking that there is something I have to do or should do every time I wake up on this new life.
