Prepare for the Big Day

8:58 PM

How do you prepare for an upcoming big day in your life?

When I first thought of running, the very first thing that hit me was fear. I was afraid that I would not make it to the finish line, and I was worried about my overall health, thinking if I was fit to be a runner somehow. I started jogging short distances, and I posted my progress in my Facebook account. Then, a friend of mine, who is a seasoned runner, messaged me up to invite me to join a running event. I totally rejected the invitation, because I didn't had any proper training. In short - I was not prepared for it at all. But after days of convincing, I finally agreed, with a condition that we he would accompany me in the entire race.

We joined a fun run called "HaRunA", which was held last year February 15. This was my first fun run and I was able to finish the 5KM category. This was an easy run for many, with little preparation needed.

But after finishing the race, a fire lit up inside of me - I wanted to run more. This point was the start of my running career. After the 5KM distance, I looked online to find another running event, and eventually joined the 10KM category. I set this goal so hard that I pushed myself in achieving it by training well and preparing all the things I need.

I successfully got my first 10KM medal, and after that, I felt I wanted to run even longer. That was when I decided to conquer the 15KM and 21KM (half-marathon) categories. Right now, I have received 8 medals.

Every fun run or race for me is a big day. I prepare for it really hard that I throw away all my fears, laziness, worries and hesitations so I can focus in my training and overall health. I was waking up at 5AM to start my training, and I was buying all running gears and supplements for nutrition that I have needed. And during my runs, I prayed hard and a lot that I could surpass every kilometer.

In my entire running career, God is there. He guided me all the time, and He whispered to my ears many times that I could finish the race. He made me a champion.

Another "big day" for all of us is the second coming of Christ. We hear this a lot, but how do we prepare for it? For me, the preparations are:

  • Pray hard to God;
  • Forgive all that have sinned us;
  • Ask God for forgiveness;
  • Repent from sins;
  • Serve Him;
  • Help the poor; and,
  • Share His Word to others.
We will never know when this big day will come, but God loves us so much, and if we believe in Him, we will be prepared for that day.

I pray that everyone of us will know the importance of being prepared for the upcoming big days in our lives, that we will throw away our fears, anxieties, laziness, weariness and hesitations so we can be champions when those days come. Things will be hard as we prepare, but just remember that God loves us so much that He intends all of us to be champions.

  1. I hope all of us will be ready when that time comes along with all our families and friends and even the ones we don't know. The time to prepare for Christ's second coming is really short for we may not know when will our physical body be taken away. Let us always remember this verse and apply it to our daily lives on earth
    Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
    Matthew 22:37‭-‬39 NIV
