Our John the Baptist
5:24 PM
From reading today's Gospel and from the past days, I learned that God sent Elijah first before His Son, Jesus Christ, which was in the persona of John the Baptist. He was sent to prepare the world on Jesus' coming, but many judged him and turned him down, which eventually led him into prison.
In this story, the "world" is us. I believe that everyday, God has been sending to us our John the Baptist. I, myself, don't know yet who is my Elijah - the one that God sent to me so I can be more prepared in Jesus' Second Coming. Everyday I ponder on this, but I believe God will provide for my preparations.
But one thought to think about is - if I haven't met my Elijah, could it be that he failed to reach upon me? Just like how John the Baptist failed to reach to more people to prepare them all? I have a strong feeling that my Elijah fails because my heart is not yet entirely open to receive God.
I pray that I can be more open to God - to His love, words and will. I believe this is one of the essential things I am missing on, so I pray that God will show me how to get those missing things. I pray that everyone who isn't yet coming back to God will have their Elijahs sent to them so they will realize how important it is to prepare for Jesus' arrival.
