“Buy the truth, and do not sell it.” (Proverbs 23:23)

Invest in Jesus and never exchange it for anything.

Jesus is the truth as said in “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) and the verse tells us to buy it meaning do something to get that truth and once you have it, do not let anything or anyone take it away from you for something in return or trade.

I had known Christ even before when I had a practice in highschool with my groupmates for a performance in our project. I was reluctant to accept him but I did pray at that time. I know that he saved us and that he is the way the truth and the light. But I did not understand it and just go on with my life not thinking about him nor God that much. I spent my days thinking about studies, my hobbies and the people around me. I often skip church on Sundays for a good sleep or a relaxed day at home or at the mall, spend time with people or be alone.

God had shown me that there is no meaning in life without him in one instance of my life I never expected to happen. He was there to show me the truth. He introduced me to his son again. But this time, I tried to accept him. I hesitated at first because but he let me know the truth about his promises and wanted me to trust him. And so my Christian life begins, continuously seeking the truth. I noticed that everytime I go astray from the truth and disobey, I find myself getting hurt. It was a huge struggle up until now, but I wanted to know more about him, his ways and stick to him. Because I know that the truth is Jesus, and the truth sets us free, the truth brings out the light, the truth shows what is right and just, and the truth brings peace, love and joy. Without the truth, there will be lies, misery, disappointments, sadness, darkness, curses and a bunch of negativity that will make me suffer and hurt.

I should not trade Jesus for pleasure and worldly desires for I know that only him can give me hope and light even in my darkest times. I should never trade it in exchange for something unimportant, that might ruin my life and blurr my purpose. I should not give Jesus up for I know that through him the promises of God will happen. I should never let Jesus go, because I believe that from him I can feel the love of God and so I can give love to him and offer love to others. What I should do is to invest more time and effort in seeking the truth. I will read the Word and continue with my prayers. I will always communicate with Jesus. And I will not let the enemy get in my way.

Lord God I thank and praise you for all the things you have provided me and my family. I am sorry for my shortcomings and disobedience. I will make a way to overcome them and immediately obey your commands. Thank you Lord God for bringing and sacrificing your son to give us the truth to save us all. I pray Lord God that you will continue to support me and keep me empowered in seeking Jesus, seeking the truth about you. I pray also that you will be supporting and empowering all the people around me to know about the truth as well. Bless them and open their hearts to you oh Lord. Use me dear God to minister in them your word and let them know that we all should work our relationship with you through accepting Jesus as our Lord and savior. In Jesus' name I pray that all these things will manifest the soonest and never allow our hearts to be pursuaded by the enemy to trade off the truth for our worldly desires. Amen.
