Made for each other

"For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Luke 14:11
You can't do it alone. You need other people.
For the longest time, I have lived my life relying on myself alone. Why? Because I can. I always get what I want.
I wanted to be a programmer. I never stopped until I got it.
I wanted to be a scrum master. I knew I can do it and I did.
I wanted to teach. I did it.
I wanted to take graduate studies. This is easy, of course, I was able to do it.
But all these things took it's toll on me through stress and fatigue. Later on, because it persisted, my energy and drive depleted. I became depressed.
What took me back is the the love of the people that surrounded me. My family, friends, teams, students and spiritual community. They showered me love and offered help when I needed it. At first I was hesitant because I felt like it's too embarrassing. But later on I gave in because it is what I needed the most. The love and support of other people.
At this phase of my life, God reminded me that I can't do everything on my own. We are made to need one another and fill each other up with what's lacking in one. We are made to offer love and support to those who need it. We are not perfect on our own. We are perfected in God and his image - others.
Lord, thank you for sending others to fill our imperfections. We are indeed perfected by your love. Amen.
