Drawing

"But one by one, they all began to excuse themselves." Luke 14:18

Way back 2011, my colleagues and I decided to play paintball. At least a week before, we listed the names of who will join so we can reserve. On the day of the event, we were waiting for one of our officemates to arrive. It was almost our time to leave for the venue when we received a text message from our friend saying he couldn't make it. It was not the first and last time it happened. It occured multiple times until he gained the reputation of being a "drawing" (a term for not being true to one's commitments).

We are all presented with blessings and opportunities from God. It is all for our taking! Maybe we have been praying for a job, a promotion, a partner or financial assistance. But when it is already available, what do we do? Do we grab the opportunity or do we excuse ourselves? Do we tell ourselves we're not deserving of His grace?

Our God is always faithful to us. He knows what we need. It may not come during the time we want our prayers to be answered but it will surely happen. When that time comes, let us hold on to our words when we asked for it and claim it wholeheartedly. God never gives when we're not ready. God is never a "drawing". He is real.

Father, may we joyfully claim the banquet you presented for us.
