Comfort in Worship
9:17 PM
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:3-4
Looking back at what happened during the past month, it has been all about frustration and mourning. I can confidently share that I am not my usual self; there's a part inside me where I feel like I'm deteriorating. I've lost the light of who I really am through my present circumstances.
During these moments, I only felt comfort in worship (whether I'm leading it or attending) and in the presence of my family and spiritual community. As I stand on stage, I felt like I'm one with the community, lifting our worries to God and believing in His victory over all our troubles.
It is when I realized that this is where God is calling, not just me, but everyone of us who are feeling tired of the daily grind: it can be very frustrating at work or at school, there may be a lot of financial obligations that we need to look into, we may have our dreams cast aside because of practicality and a whole lot more. Looking at all these things, we may ask "Where is God here?". That is our cue. God is calling us to call out to Him despite the circumstances we are in. This is where we worship Him more, where we cling to His promise of eternal joy and comfort.
The Beatitudes can be our guide to a lifestyle of worship. These are His promises to each and everyone of us that we can look forward to the days ahead. Even in storms, God can calm it for us and embrace us.
Lord, despite the challenges I'm in, I know that You are here with me.
