What is a Real Friend?
7:52 AM"One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." ~ Proverbs 18:24
I have lots of friends, in which most are very close to me, such as my high school and college batchmates, former work colleagues and my current workmates. I feel I am very blessed for having such a big network of people where I have established good friendships with.
But as time goes by, I wonder who can be there for me when I need them. Though I'm usually the type who doesn't reach out for others' help, whenever I don't have any options left, I ultimately seek out to a few friends for their support.
For me, a real friend is someone who can listen, understand and teach you life lessons you need to learn. He or she might not always be there for you personally but still has solid communications with you.
Most importantly, he or she is someone who can accept you for whatever you may become someday.
This year will be a very big year for me. I'm turning 25 years old in 5 months, and I must say that, I'm tired of living my life this way - I'm tired of hiding and hurting myself just for others to be happy, to satisfy their eyes and judgment, thinking they are always right in every way. I'm very exhausted to be dictated by society all the time.
God is with me in this very big battle. I will pray that He will shed light upon me, so I can see which of the dearest people in my life are the real and fake ones.
Thank you, Lord, for giving me courage in facing my upcoming battle. I trust in You that I won't be left empty, or without having any friends at all, after starting to live my life the way I want it to be ever since.
